Hodor awesomeness

Hodor is absolutely awesome. The ultimate self-sacrificing character. As a boy he was sacrificed to save Bran Stark. The one word he was left with, "Hodor," was a contraction of "Hold the door!" Did he spend his life in a nightmare as he relived the moment when he'd be sacrificed so that Bran and the others could get away? We may never know... 

Field of Dreams Without Three-Eyed Ravens

Field of Dreams is the epic story of Kevin Costner going from Iowa to Boston and back again. Think of it like The Incredible Journey, but with baseball, a less badass Darth Vader, and arguments with Timothy Busfield in Trump Country. Oh, and ghosts. Did I say ghosts? Ray Liotta’s Shoeless Joe could’ve given his Henry Hill a hard time in this one!

Family arguments abound. The brother-in-law and the wife are growing tired of the #YOLO attitude. 

Plowing up corn is rather an odd choice. Not that there is anything wrong with Philosophy majors growing corn. It’s just a bad business move to put a baseball field in the middle.  

Then the kid gets all psychic after nearly dying.

Much like

Bran Stark,

her near-death was the major turning point in the film. However, in this case, being near-death keeps the family together instead of touching off a continent-wide war with a super prominent family.

Oh Hollywood, and your happy endings!

Alien: Covenant

I have a problem. I’m a Game of Thrones addict reviewing movies.  

Alien Covenant is a fun ride you’ve ridden before. It is the sequel to 2012’s Prometheus. The two movies form the basis of a prequel to the series of Alien films which began in the 1970s.

Okay. I see that, and now I know that nothing is truly new or inventive in Hollywood. Which is why when you see a twist, you need to grab a hold of it. Movies are getting harder to sit through. I have literally seen a film have to set up its comic book street cred as a way to convince an increasingly skeptical audience $15 to see a movie.

Read that again. $15! Why? Were we entertained? What did we learn?

What I learned was never deploy the TWIST TOO EARLY!

Gentle reader, there’s still movie at the end of the twist! I just want to lock Ridley Scott in a room with the Game of Thrones series! Ridley! This is how you do a twist! Don’t show us that your metaphorical girl can’t be burned with a half hour left, Ridley!  FAIL!
